Danielle Fishel : You want to lie with what makes me the most angry ? I ca n’t stand it . And I am furious that they put the words , " Well , as long as there ’s cleaning woman willing to dance like that , there will be men to see them " in Topanga ’s backtalk . How defy you ? How dare you ?
Will Friedle : This ranks up there with arguably the worst episode for me of the serial for every reason . The entire episode , I thought , was imbecilic . I know goggle box . This was not it . This was a bad installment of idiot box all the way around .
Rider Strong : This instalment feel very eldritch to me in that it feel like somebody had written a draft of an episode that was very clearly like Topanga is overturned that Cory sound to essentially a flight strip baseball club or Hooters . And then they kind of back off of that by , like , have Topanga be very understanding . And in the rewrite , it ’s almost like everything the fiber are saying is going against the factual secret plan , and so it felt kind of impel in a way , and then some of the joke matt-up rushed . I do n’t know . Something felt off . It experience like this was a bad tape measure night for some reason .

Boy get together Worldremains one of the bestsitcoms of the 1990s , but this does not stand for that the show is impervious to a thoughtful critique . Fishel , Friedle , and Strong still have a potent passion for the show , as evidenced by the fact that they have been bit by bit rewatching every sequence and discussing them throughPod Meets Worldsince 2022 . As lead of the show who are now look on it through a Modern lens , there is weight unit to their criticism of " You ’re Married , You ’re Dead . "

Topanga was a reform-minded character in many ways , which makes the specific input that Fishel luff out all the more jarring . The episode play into outdated stereotypes about marriage , despite the overall long suit and gradual maturation of Cory and Topanga ’s relationship . As Strong points out , the story even seems to be shy of what it is trying to say . Not only does the episode feel problematic at times , but the characters ' dialogue feels discrepant with their actions , which leads to an installment that becomes"forced"and"rushed . "

While " You ’re Married , You ’re Dead " did not become a bannedBoy contact Worldepisode , it has not aged well , and is maligned even by the show ’s own star . Over the path of seven season and 158 episodes , there are bound to be some bad episodes , including those that now feel regressive . For the most part , Boy Meets Worldis still a sitcom that has valuable lessons to teach , with this episode being a noticeable exception .
