Zaragoza Unpacks Sas' Feelings For Joan And Shiki
“He had to go on this journey with all of it, with Shiki, to get to a place where he feels ready.”
ScreenRant : Sas has n’t had the proficient fortune with romanticism in his 500 + years of aliveness . How did you feel about having Joan as a new love interest group for him ?
Román Zaragoza : first off , Taylor Ortega is just awful . Such an incredible thespian to act with first and foremost . And then just for Sas to be capable to have someone that genuinely wants him and challenge him and matches his vigor — I think he ’s been waiting for this strong person to come into his aliveness to be like , " No , you ’re good . You ’re great . I want to be with you . " And it ’s like , " Whoa . " It was almost vivid for him to finger at first . And then he had to go on this journey with all of it , with Shiki , to get to a place where he feel ready .
What was it similar to give Sas that moment of connectedness he may have never felt before ?

Román Zaragoza : It ’s even interesting to be playing this character where , over the last four time of year , he ’s had these little glimpses of connective with Jessica , the car ghost . And to feel seen is such a big thing for anybody . And I call back for someone who , for the last 500 years has been pining over someone who read " hi " to him 13 times , it was massive .
It was monumental to feel that get-up-and-go even on lot — to feel like " Wow , " and find seen . It was beautiful . I do n’t even know . I ’m even lost for word for it . But it is a beautiful thing . And I think in gain to that , for me as a multicultural someone of colour , playing almost like a quixotic hint for that moment on internal TV is also a very big instant . And to have that import of connection , it meant so much to me , and I do n’t take it gently . And I think that ’s the smasher of mental representation .
Does Sas have actual feelings for Shiki ?
Ghosts is a comedy series about Samantha and Jay, who convert a country estate into a bed-and-breakfast. Unbeknownst to them, the house is inhabited by ghosts of former residents, visible only to Samantha. The show blends humor with supernatural elements as the couple navigates their unusual challenges.
Román Zaragoza : It ’s so ruffianly . I remember about how so many citizenry will romanticize and fantasise about matter that are n’t necessarily real , but in the here and now , it feels so actual . It ’s so hard to get out yourself out of it . And I remember for Sas , that is what happened . He associates her with a time of his actual life . And so how can you even compare someone that is not from your tribe and your cultivation ?
There are so many elements that he connected with her — at least in his head — connect with her on . Even though they only said " hi " thirteen times , there was something in his head where he was like , " No , this is right . This is who I need to be with . " And I think he demand to part that , which is really difficult for hoi polloi to do . It lead him a long meter .
I cerebrate he was holding onto that for the last 500 years , so it aim someone to really take him out of it . And I ’m sure he ’s still go to work through that potentially over these next few year , but I feel very grateful that he ’s on this path of releasing that a niggling bit .
The Cast Never Considered The Ghost Trap As A Way Off The Property

Were the ghostwriter right for desire to prevent this by lying about Shiki ’s feeling ?
Román Zaragoza : That ’s always so hard . That ’s such a hard interrogative sentence because if they were to have hid it , then he could have just moved on and thing would ’ve been fine . But I opine conceal any truth would eventually disrupt friendship and relationships because there ’s always going to be hiding something .
And who knows if he would ’ve been able to meet Shiki later ? And to find that out subsequently would ’ve been even more devastating . So I think for him to be confronted with that , he had to go on this journey with all of this . I think it was inevitable , and I think it was think to be . He go on that journey , and he cypher it out .
Did you and the shape ever consider that the wraith trap could allow you sweep the prop line ?
Román Zaragoza : We never thought of it . I ’ve loved the idea of it that our amazing showrunners intend of because that was genius . What if ? There are all these questions of the ghost rules , and it ’s like , " permit ’s essay it . " But the chilling part about it is , if you quiz it , and you are the examiner , and it goes wrong , what does that stand for ? And I think that is what bump to Sas . He was willing to do it and then last hour was like , " Nevermind , I do n’t want to do this . "
What is it same to act from inside the spectre trap ? I ’m imagining you ’re in a very little way , and you have to yell up at multitude .
Román Zaragoza : It ’s a really coolheaded thing that they built . It ’s on one of our different sets , and it is a pretty confined space . And , of course , the top is open for the photographic camera to come down , but particularly with Devan , it was a little taut . It was a little tight . [ Laughs ]

But to feel that connection with Joan was awesome and beautiful . I ’m well-chosen for him . It ’s really cute to think that I ’ve been rooting for this guy cable for so long .
