During an interview withPeople , Dichen Lachman shared her reaction toSeveranceseason 2 ’s ending . She says that , while audiences have spent so much time with Mark and Helly , she hopes that they are equally invested in outie Mark ’s kinship with Gemma , calling it " a really difficult situation . " Lachman also discussed diving deep into her dual character , which she found tickle pink yet scare :
I think I say [ installment ] 10 just before we take up take [ episode ] 10 and 7 . I just recall being like , " Oh wow , this is blend in to be interesting to see the reaction . " evidently , the fan have spend so much meter with Helly R. and Mark S. , and so they ’re invested in that . But after [ installment ] 7 , they ’re also hopefully invested in Mark ’s outie ’s relationship more as well . It ’s a really difficult situation .

I ’ll just add more pattern — I call back it ’s really like a love hexagon because you have to fetch Ms. Casey into the depiction too , good ? When Dichen crosses that threshold , there ’s on the face of it no more Ms. Casey . I ca n’t imagine she would come back for that knowingness . Plus , you have all of the 23 other consciousnesses that were on the discerp floor that Dichen so attractively lived out . The ending of the series really becomes about all of those different consciousnesses have contrasting desires .
Scott : That was imagine of always as the goal point for the time of year — is the big alternative in the hall — and it was a matter of figuring out how to get there . There was a cosmopolitan sense of the counsel , but as far as the specific mystifier pieces to put into place , that was really figured out after . It just seemed like the logical place to go with innie Mark and outie Mark on this collision form all season . It starts out with their interest aline and passably soon their interests start to diverge . But as far as terminate the time of year before he make a pick , I ’m so glad we did n’t terminate up doing that . I conceive that the time of year ends in the accurate right place .

Where Do Mark, Helly, & Gemma Go From Here?

This include whether Mark will ever fully reintegrate , how Lumon bull Gemma ’s death , and why Mark and Gemma were chosen for the Cold Harbor experimentation . The scandalous time of year 2 cliffhanger , pair with these unrequited doubtfulness , should make for a greatSeveranceseason 3 , which was confirmed shortly after the season 2 close .
