Something odd has stand out to me since I first watchedAndorseason 1 , but a newStar Warsstory may have finally given me the response . Despite having only one 12 - episode season , Andorhas well become one of my all - time favoriteStar WarsTV show , and I ’m certainly not alone in that opinion . With excellent writing , gamey production values , and well - retrieve - out theatrical role arcs , Andoris the coronate achievement of modernStar Wars .
However , out of all the first-class character inAndor , one figure was notably absent in the first season … Senator Bail Organa of Alderaan . Spymaster Luthen Rael worked alongside familiar rebel leaders like Saw Gerrera and Senator Mon Mothma , but Princess Leia ’s Father-God was nowhere to be see . While they may have just been saving him forAndorseason 2 , another explanation is presented inStar Wars : Reign of the Empire - The Mask of Fearby Alexander Freed .

Bail Organa & Mon Mothma Weren’t As Close As We Thought
Being strong allies didn’t make them good friends
I always assumed that Bail Organa and Mon Mothma must have been good ally because of the crucial scenes they partake throughoutStar Wars . In the deleted scenes forStar war : Episode III - Revenge of the Sith , Bail and Mon joined Padmé Amidala and other like - tending senators who endeavor to oppose Palpatine ’s power snatch . They make for tight together in the rebel groundwork on Yavin 4 inRogue One : A Star Wars Story .
While they may have shared a common cause on several affair , it seems I overestimated how close-fitting they were . InReign of the Empire - The Mask of Fear , it ’s give away thatBail and Mon do n’t actually like each other all that much and do n’t get along very well in private . They certainly honor and look up to each other because of their shared value , but there are also key issue they ca n’t agree on .
They both know how bad thing were going to get when Palpatine declared himself Emperor , but they disagreed on what to do about it .

Bail was compulsive to evidence the Jedi were innocent of traitorousness , proving Palpatine based Order 66 on lies to twist the galaxy against him . Mon , however , believed no one would care about the Jedi and sought to devolve legislation that would see the light the Empire and importantly reduce Palpatine ’s mogul .
The Rift Between Bail & Mon Must’ve Continued Into Andor
They only worked together when necessary
at last , Bail and Mon both go bad to stop Palpatine on their own , recognizing the need to ferment together . understand Gerrera had also fail in his recent military onset against the Empire , and despite distrusting regal pol , he agreed to a secret meeting with Bail and Mon . Together , the three of them lease the first steps toward planning a tenacious - terminus scheme to defeat the Empire , mostly working independently but still coordinating when potential .
Andor ’s Tony Gilroy has revealed that one of Star Wars ' most underrated characters / thespian will be generate a major spotlight , 20 days after Episode 3 .
Even so , the breach between Bail and Mon is the most logical explanation for why he does n’t look inAndor . They may have had the same ultimate goal , but they also had conflicting strategies and economic value , and this may have gotten worse over time . Bail was either on Alderaan with his phratry or pursue his own scheme during the event ofAndorseason 1 , and he may have reject of some of Mon ’s decisions had he get laid about them .
Andor Season 2 Has GOT To Feature Bail Organa
And one of Andor’s best characters can make it happen
Now that I ’ve readReign of the Empire - The Mask of Fear , there ’s no wayAndorseason 2 can afford not to include Bail Organa . The book firmly establishes adage , Mon , and Bail as the original triumvirate of the Rebel Alliance , but only the first two have appear in the show . Mon has effectively prove the political side of the Rebellion , while Saw has personified the disgruntled freedom fighter who no longer trusts people like her .
gratefully , there ’s one other character linking Mon and Saw inAndor … Luthen Rael . He meets Mon in his aristocratic camouflage on Coruscant , while show his more rugged side in meetings with Saw . This makes me wonder if Luthen has actually been meeting with Bail in another disguise this whole time , or if he ’s at last going to establish a process family relationship with Bail in season 2 .
Perhaps Mon Mothma , Saw Gerrera , and even Bail Organa do n’t make that Luthen Rael is coordinating their efforts .
We know that Bail , Mon , and Saw amply come together when the proper Rebel Alliance takes shape , so maybe Luthen was the one who ultimately get them past their differences . After all , Bail is very loyal to the Jedi , and Luthen carry around a kyber crystal , so perhaps he ’s suited to appeal to Bail ’s persuasion . HoweverAndor ’s second season play out , I definitely want to see how Bail suit into this part of theStar Warstimeline .
