The Outer Worlds 2
As a fan of the original secret plan , I was already looking forward toThe Outer Worlds 2 . However , recent updates about the game has made me aroused , not just for the game itself , but for the potential future of another Obsidian RPG : Avowed . More specifically , the gameplay changes coming inThe Outer Worlds 2that expand character option have me turn on that anAvowed 2could trace suit .
I had a lot of playfulness withAvowed , and the game did offer a decent number of builds . However , one of the items on mywishlist forAvowed 2was expanded character creation pick , admit more division and Perks . I was therefore excited to see thatThe Outer Worlds 2will be doing just that , by adding a heap of newfangled character creation optionsthat were n’t present in the first game . My Bob Hope is that a potentialAvowed 2would do the same , and add in some of the character - building choice from thePillars of Eternityfranchise .
The Outer Worlds 2 Is Expanding Its Character Customization
The Outer Worlds 2 Is More Than Doubling Its Perks
In an exclusive interview withIGN , pattern theatre director Matt Singh and head systems designer Kyle Koenig discussed some of the changes come toThe Outer Worlds 2 . One of the key elements they sharpen on wasthe elaboration of the game ’s Perks , of which there are now over 90 . This is more than double the 42 Perks uncommitted inThe Outer Worlds . Koenig observe in the interview that a major reason behind this change was that characters inThe Outer Worldswere too often good at everything , which did n’t make them feel like alone individuals .
Microsoft has announced the date and fourth dimension for the 2025 Xbox Summer Showcase , and The Outer Worlds 2 will get its own Direct stream after the event .
The Outer Worlds 2seems to be putting more emphasis on allowing you to craft a fictitious character that absolutely fits your playstyle , and who has a unique personality to tally it . The limits of this phone like they expand pretty far , with there even being dedicate Perks for a " serial orca " build if you are the character of histrion who likes to off NPCs arbitrarily . TheOuter Worlds 2is also retread how skills work , making certain skill tier a prerequisite for opt sure Perks . This also further the developer ' goal of defecate role more specialized .
Another matter take down in the interview was thatThe Outer Worlds 2embraces complexity in characters over a more streamlined method . This caught my attention , because if I had one discussion to describe much ofAvowed ’s gameplay , it would be streamlined . I did n’t necessarily dislike this , and I in reality really delight howAvowedsacrificed some immersion for smooth gameplay . However , I would n’t listen a bit more complexity in its builds , interchangeable to whatThe Outer Worlds 2is promise .
Avowed Streamlined Like The Outer Worlds
Avowed And The First Outer Worlds Game Have Similarities In Character Creation
alike toThe Outer Worlds , Avowed ’s Abilities ( its eq to Perks ) can be easily mixed and matched . While some Abilities require others as a prerequisite , many of them can be taken regardless of your build or skills . You could have spend the entire game building the Wizard skill tree , and still grab the grade 20 Ranger ability , Flurry of Blows , with a undivided skill point . Although this makes character - construction decisions relatively gentle , it also have aside a bit from the narrative aspect of build an RPG fictional character .
I loved most of Avowed ’s gameplay , but something was drop . as luck would have it , The Outer Worlds 2 seems like it will posit my one big problem with Avowed .
It feel a little strange that my Envoy inAvowedcould just pick up some top - story thaumaturgy , or abruptly gain martial prowess , despite never having trained in that discipline . The game breaks submersion even further by allowing you to respec at any time and completely rearrange your Abilities into a completely novel configuration . WhileBaldur ’s Gate 3does this too , it at least use the narrative excuse that Withers is using muscular magic to make it happen . Although I do think this is an interesting room to wield skills , I think I likeThe Outer Worlds 2 ’s model better .

Avowed 2 Could Add More Abilities And Create Unique Builds
UnlikeAvowed , The Outer Worlds 2won’t allow players to pick up any Perk they want , nor will it allow for sluttish respecs . accord to the developers , this is to make your fibre ’s development part of the story , and allow them to feel more unequalled . Although I was well-chosen thatAvowedhad a relatively simple way of handle grapheme growth , as it was the first game in the series , I would love to see a sequel physique on its introduction and make things more complicated the same wayThe Outer Worlds 2is doing .
The Outer Worlds 2 , Obsidian Entertainment ’s next plot , has receive new footage , and it has me concerned it is making the same mistakes as Starfield .
Even if a potentialAvowed 2wanted to keep gentle respecs and flexible Abilities , I would at least care to see it expand its option . LikeThe Outer Worlds 2has done , I would bed to seeAvowed 2give us reduplicate the number of Abilitiesavailable in the first game , and leave for a wide range of niche build . Luckily , Avowedoriginates from thePillars of Eternitygames , so there is already an existing pool of character choice thatAvowed 2could soak up from . Of naturally , this only matters ifAvowed 2is a realistic possibility .
How Likely Is An Avowed Sequel?
Avowed Has Reportedly Met Its Sales Goal Which Is A Good Sign
I would absolutely love to see a sequel toAvowed , andseemingly so wouldAvowed ’s game director Carrie Patel . In an audience withBloomberg , Patel articulate she would " love to see [ Obsidian ] do more " with the origination laid by the first game . My hope would be that others at Obsidian find the same way , and we will get a follow - up to the first secret plan , though of line it is n’t all up to the maturation team . finance play a big role in game development , soAvowedneeds to have been a commercial winner for the troupe to justify making a sequel .
I earn an Avowed accomplishment that not many other Steam players have , and it showed me that the game ’s developers read their player well .
Reportedly , Avowedhas met its sale expectations , which hopefully is good enough for it to get a sequel . While perhaps not as likely , there is also the chance it could be crowdfunded , the same wayPillars of Eternity 2 : Deadfirewas . With nothing being officially announced one room or the other , I am optimistic thatAvowed 2is a naturalistic possibility . If the game does happen , I hope it takes some cue fromThe Outer Worlds 2 , though I would n’t mind it changing things up a bit to hold back its unique indistinguishability .
